My name is Thomas Meduna. I am a junior at Meridian Technical Charter High School (MTCHS). My focus is in software development, and I have programmed several websites, apps, and games. I have had a passion for coding since early on in elementary school, when I did the hour of code. I always enjoyed things that were created through programming, such as video games, media sites like YouTube, and even some online educational resources where I learned while still having fun or just learned about something particularly interesting. Because of that, I wanted to be one of the people who makes that for others for most of my life, and that still holds true today.
I went to MTCHS for several reasons, the two biggest being my interest in tech and to avoid going to a public high school
that had thousands of students. A charter school was a way to go beyond what everyone did and have something to show for myself. In
that regard, I went even further by putting in the effort to be a Straight-A student.
One thing that I believe sets me apart
from my peers is that I never had an AI do my work for me during a period of increasing AI use to avoid doing schoolwork. I always do
real, human work that can't be so easily replaced.
During my free time, I enjoy playing videogames, golfing, and running a DND
group with my friends. While not being professional in any sense, filling the role of Dungeon Master in that group has given me good
practice with my leadership skills.
